When an individual is in this situation, the name landlord is commonly used. Other names are lessee and lessor. A lessor is a person who leases a home or apartment from a lessee, while the former is a person who leases an apartment or flat to someone else.
Most landlords have their own real estate in terms of property to rent or buy. Some landlords rent out residential property. Many landlords rent out condominiums and apartments, and many also rent out commercial buildings and properties.
