Drive down one of Riverside´s tree lined streets and you might think you´ve stepped back in time. This city, located about an hour east of Los Angeles, is filled with Historic homes and dwindling citrus groves that lend thoughts to a bygone era. Early settlers from England and Canada brought with them their customs and style, molding Riverside into the heritage rich mecca it has become today.
With the perfect climate for growing navel oranges, the city had its own citrus "gold rush" and became a prosperous industrial center for the nation´s orange production in the late 1800´s.

Much of the City's rich history stems from this wonderful fruit. Today, Riverside celebrates the impact the industry had on its city with the annual Orange Blossom Festival. Children in the area enjoy learning about their community history by visiting the Citrus State Park and museum.
Today, the city is most notably known for its world famous, Spanish styled luxury hotel, appropriately named The Mission Inn. This National Historic Landmark has been the vacation destination for U.S. Presidents, actors, and easterners trying to get away from the winter cold for over a century. The eclectic and intriguing hotel occupies an entire city block and is well worth an afternoon's visit. The alluring architecture of Riverside's downtown museums, art venues, and government buildings is the perfect backdrop to numerous street fairs and community celebrations. No wonder it was named the "Most Livable Mid Sized City" in 2004.
The development of local business, shopping, academia, and housing continues to enhance the quality of life in the Inland Empire. Residents can enjoy a variety of performing arts, cultural activities, and events that take place throughout the year. With easy accessibility by metrolink rail to surrounding regions, Riverside appeals to both the daily commuter and the family who likes a slower pace of life.
