Loma, a previously unincorporated area in the upper western corner of Riverside County, is getting a fresh new face as part of the newly incorporated city of Jurupa Valley. Bounded to the east and south by the Santa Ana River, and to the north by the San Bernardino and Riverside County line, it is a convenient location for those who commute to work in either county, but wish to have a rurally located home to retire to in the evenings.
That’s right: Mira Loma is a somewhat rural area, with many of the homes sitting on large land lots that allow for horses and other farm animals. For those preferring a newer home, there’s good news; as is the case with other rural Riverside County towns, Mira Loma underwent significant residential development during the housing boom. That means there are plenty of newer, spacious, more suburban looking homes available in the Mira Loma area.
Children in the Mira Loma area are served by the Jurupa Unified School District, which serves the areas that are now part of the city of Jurupa Valley. The district features16 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools and 3 adult continuation schools.
The California League of Middle Schools (CLMS) honored a Mira Loma Middle School principal at its 2010 Educator of the Year Awards Dinner, and The California Business for Education Excellence announced two of the district’s schools qualified for its 2010 Honor Roll. Dual Immersion, a popular language program offered at select California schools, is offered by the Jurupa Valley School District.
